Description

This book features an inscription that reads "This book was bought from an Indian near Hudsons Bay Jan 20th 1886" and if that doesn't make you wonder about the previous owner of this book then nothing will! The handwriting is cramped but not illegible and it does not feature any of the elaborate flourishes that can sometimes indicate the writer is a member of a higher class. Perhaps a father bought this for his son who loved to play cowboys and Indians or a young man ventured to buy it for himself. This book, which has traveled so far, is a testament to how reader culture can shift and change and be influenced by even the smallest event.
