This image featured another bookplate that reads "Birmingham School Board. 'A Perfect Attendance Prize' Presented to Edith Ellis (Scholar in the IV Standard) Board School Aug. 31st 1898. C.A. Bell Head Teacher. " This bookplate features a highly stylized border and elaborate 'p' in the word presented. Like the other bookplates, these extra details would have added to the prestige of receiving the prize. This image is also interesting for the different types of handwriting exhibited. All of these little clues can help us to picture what the past readers were like and what they valued in their lives and in their books.
